Dr. Fure-Ching JengVice President, Engineering - Software DevelopmentDr. Fure-Ching Jeng serves as Magnum’s vice president of software development, a position he held at Cirrus prior to the spin-off. Jeng joined Cirrus in 2001 when it acquired Stream Machine, and has continued to lead his team in developing DVD and harddisk recorder products since that time. At Stream Machine, Jeng held the position of vice president of systems from 1996-2001, managing an engineering team to develop a SVCD/VCD recorder for the China market, and a thin client-server platform for MPEG4 IP streaming. In addition to system platform development, he also developed various algorithms, like bit rate control and motion estimation for MPEG1/MPEG2 encoder chips. From 1988-1996, he worked for Bellcore (Bell Communications Research) with his major focus on the area of image processing, video processing and MPEG1/MPEG2 video compression algorithms. Jeng holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the National Taiwan University, and received his master and doctorate in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. |
