Magnum Semiconductor Announces New Development Environment for DVD Recorder Products

Magnum’s New Development Tools and GUI Simulator Enable Fast Development Time and Simplified System Product Customization

2006 INTERNATIONAL CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW-LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5 2006 -- Magnum Semiconductor announced today that its new DVD recording chip families, the MS9300 and MS9400 Series, are supported by the Magnum [U-Romulator][0] and [GUI Simulator][1], both available immediately with the new chips.

The [U-Romulator][0] allows an unprecedented amount of interaction and insight into the inner workings of the new chips to aid in software development and trouble-shooting. The [GUI Simulator][1] allows developers to design graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for new DVD recorder platforms on a PC, then transfer them to the embedded environment without modification to greatly accelerate software development.

Magnum’s [U-Romulator][0] and [GUI Simulator][1] are available immediately as part of the Magnum Software Development Kit for its chips and platforms. The [U-Romulator][0] and [GUI Simulator][1] support Magnum’s newly announced Advanced DVD Codec line of chip products, the MS9300 and MS9400, for DVD Recorders and Combination Recorders with Hard Disk Drives (HDD.)

Demonstrations of these new technologies are being shown at the ShowStoppers press event at 2006 International CES on Thursday, Jan. 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Wynn Las Vegas hotel.
