Products

Magnum develops complete working systems for storing, managing, viewing, and exchanging video and audio. These systems include chip and board level hardware, firmware, and applications level software. Our products are chips, but our software, reference designs and platforms, and design engineering services, all combine with our chips to help our customers bring new and exciting consumer electronics products to market faster.

Platform

When you work with Magnum, the engagement starts with a platform. Our goal is not just to produce a superior piece of silicon, but to bring new features and capabilities to our customers’ system products. To do that, we need to go all the way through to a working system; bringing our chips together with other components onto a working board, putting that board into a form-factor case, and putting in place the drivers and hardware abstraction layer firmware, and operating system, programming interface and reference applications software. We know our chips can bring new features to a particular system environment because we’ve made them work in that system environment.

Software

The Magnum software suite provides basis for many variations and multiple generations of system products. Internal development followed a strong and disciplined approach, with rigorous Q/A testing. The software tree is constructed with well-defined APIs, easing customization and providing a high degree of flexibility.

Tools

Magnum offers development tools to work with our chips and platforms. Hardware debugging aids provide a productive system software development environment. A variety of reference software applications give a head-start to system development tasks: from GUIs, to authoring tools, to scheduled recording.

Chips

Magnum makes industry-leading audio/video decoders, encoders, and codec chips. There are a variety of products to fit your consumer entertainment application; whether you want to create a living room or automotive media center, a portable recorder/player, or you want expanded intelligence and media handling for integration directly into the TV set.
